Mens 2010 Style Staple By Simon Rawson - Wednesday, February 24, 2010

What can be worn as daywear, eveningwear, outerwear, layered over a t-shirt or topped with a scarf?

The blazer of course! One of the most versatile pieces you can own, which also happens to be the must have item for 2010. The blazer has long been a staple in every style conscious mans wardrobe, and you most likely already have your single buttoned basic black, navy or charcoal right? If not, make one of these timely choices your first endeavor into the vast world of blazers.

If however, you have long been a fan of 2010’s hottest trend and have your basics firmly planted in your closet, this may just be the year to try something a bit different. With so many new beautiful designs and patterns to choose from, you will have a tough decision on your hands.

Here are some of my favorites below.

Now that we have colors and style out of the way, lets dive into fit. Fit is one of, if not thee most important aspect of your new blazer. There may be an urge to impress the sales lady by purchasing a bigger size however, you won’t be impressing anyone if your swimming in what may appear to be your dads jacket. Bringing us to rule number 1, always make sure you have the right size. If you are in between sizes, go for the larger size and have it professionally tailored. The second most important aspect of fit is the sleeve length. The sleeve should land somewhere between the wrist bone and the 2nd to 3rd joint on your thumb. Personally I think if you have a great watch, the sleeve should land just at the wrist. Why have it, if no one can see it right?
